Fund-Raiser Report

It will take time to determine the financial success of our Fall Fund Raiser last Friday (10/1), but the Silent Auction alone raised $2,700. The Day of Golf, because of heavy rain, had to be postponed. James and Wilma Baker accepted honors from Representative Sandy Galef and Senator Vincent Leibell, a song from Kate Hoekstra and Tim Pitt, and a sculpture from Roy Volpe. See pictures and program in Scrapbook.

T-shirt Contest Results

Our t-shirt contest was won by young artist Richie Burke. A limited-edition printing will be available Friday, October 1, at the Party at the Boathouse and on Saturday, October 2, at the Opening Reception of the Fall Art Exhibit.

Stuart Hample

Active supporter, writer and friend Stuart Hample passed away Sunday, September 19. He was an actor in Kent Stories, Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and the author of Alms for the Middle Class, the initial Blue Horse Repertory presentation at Arts on the Lake. There will be a celebration of his life at the Judson Memorial Church, Washington Square South, NYC, on Sunday, October 24, 5 pm-8 pm.

Scholarship Fund Created

A new scholarship fund at Arts on the Lake was created in March by the many friends of Kathie Freston on the occasion of her 80th birthday. Joined with the Bobby Doherty Fund and the Work/Study Program, it is now possible for more students, who might otherwise be prevented for financial reasons, to take classes offered by Arts on the Lake. See How to Register for Classes for inquiry information.
