Sunday, November 27, 2022 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Coming soon to Arts on the Lake

Oct 15 through November 27

Arts on the Lake is pleased to announce the opening of ‘Conversational’, an invitational regional art exhibition, on Saturday, October 15th with an opening reception for the artists from 2-5 PM.

This is the first time Arts on the Lake has shown artists whose work is known throughout the country and are in the collections of major museums including: The Smithsonian National Gallery, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts- Boston, Museto Internazionale della Donna nell'Arte-Italy, Houston Museum of Fine Arts,  Hudson River Museum, and the Denver Art Museum.

Their work spans from confrontive and highly introspective works on canvas, to joyful outdoor steel sculptures. The exhibition is installed in both galleries at AOTL as well as outside.  This exhibition will continue until November 27.

This exhibition is curated and organized by Tony Carretta whose work is included in public collections such as The National Gallery, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and is the founder of New Arts Gallery, Litchfield, Ct.

‘Conversational’ highlights both individual works as well as various installations throughout the multi-level galleries.

"Each of the 30 participating artist’s contribution to the exhibition is their exploration of a personal visual language and corresponding techniques ranging from the use of organic materials such as abandoned bee’s nests to digitally based and manipulated imagery. In combination, the varied and oftentimes opposing points of view observed in the exhibition create a dialogue, a conversation.

These conversations reflect the vital role that the unrestrained creative process and personal expression plays in forging the opportunity to unify and strengthen the fabric of society. Art and culture has historically been at the center of that critical endeavor. Each work in this exhibition invites the viewer to explore ideas not as confrontation but as expansion through interaction and observation."

  - T. Carretta

Opening Reception is Oct 15, 2 PM.
