VOB Film Festival

September 1st-4th the Village of Brewster Film Festival will take place in a number of locations in Putnam County. Now in its fifth year, the festival continues to grow with films, shorts and animations being submitted from around the world.  Check the VOB home page for general information and details, and here for information and to purchase tickets for the Saturday films showing at AotL. They will also be available at the door. Price is $7.

 

 

Arts on the Lake welcomes being one of the venues and will show films both Saturday, September 3rd, 1:00 pm–4:00 pm and Sunday September 4th,12:45 - 2:45 pm. The Saturday Selections start at 1 pm and are listed below. For Sunday listings click here.


A panel discussing Woman in Film will follow the films and will include Tony Award winner, Alice Ripley, who stars in first film, SUGAR!

 

SUGAR! directed and written by Shari Berman stars Tony Award winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal, Side Show, American Psycho) and SAG Award Winner Robert Clohessy (Avengers, Wolf on Wall Street, Man on a Ledge.) In the air lies the fate of their marriage, the band's fate, and her husband's election. Who will win or lose?

 

First Encounter With Authority, directed, written and produced by Yavuz ÖZER, is set in Turkey in the 1990s. In this period, thousands of children had to recognize the notion of government - authority by identifying with uniforms, violence and fear.

 

Generation Girl, directed by Anna Blu, portrays the the idealistic world of two young women which comes crashing down when they fight over a mutual love interest.


Home, directed and written by Daniel Mulloy is a tale of a comfortable English family setting out on what appears to be a holiday against the backdrop of thousands of men, women and children attempting to get into Europe.
